We believe that healthy food is an essential part of the childcare we provide!  Of course, everyone has a different idea of what "healthy" means...to me, it means using fresh ingredients and mostly cooking from scratch, using local and organic when possible, and using concentrated sweeteners sparingly (including fruit juice and dried fruit).  We serve water instead of juice to drink, and offer a wide selection of seasonal fruits and vegetables.  Children are encouraged (but not forced) to try new things, and a spirit of adventure is encouraged by offering a range of new foods alongside old favorites.

Gardening and cooking can be fun  and educational, and we seek to involve kids in food growing, harvesting and preparation whenever possible.  Kitchen-based activities can be a great way to encourage hand-eye coordination, the ability to focus and follow instructions, and even math skills!  Whenever possible we get children to help measure and stir ingredients, pour liquids, grate cheese, and knead dough.  And of course, the garden is a great place to dig, play with earth, plant seeds and observe creatures like worms and insects!

If you have any questions about the menu, or if your child has allergies or special food needs, please don't hesitate to discuss them with us. Our apologies, but we are unable to provide a nut-free environment.
